Sidney R. Pearl

December 8, 1950 — October 3, 2020

Sidney R. Pearl, departed from us, suddenly, on October 3, 2020 at the age of 69.

He was born on December 8, 1950 in Natchez, Mississippi, to the late Dorothy Mae Pearl.

Sidney moved to Akron, Ohio at an early age where he graduated from South High School "BIG BLUE" in 1970. After graduating, he was employed by General Tire for 10 years until the closing of the company. This prompted him to become a DJ and establish Pearl Jam Factory, a successful entertainment company. He was also a certified Ballroom instructor and dancer for many years. Sidney was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, loved riding his motorcycle and driving his candy apple red Firebird and Van. He also loved cooking and entertaining family and friends. He was always a person you could depend on for many things to include providing sound advice in times of need. In his later years, he became a caregiver for his mother until her passing in 2018 and was a full-time student at the University of Akron, making the Dean's List every semester he attended.

He is preceded in death by grandfather, Tom Hughes, mother, Dorothy Mae Pearl, daughter, Christel Purdie and brother-in-law, Jack Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Helen Johnson of Houston, TX and Denise (Donald) Williams of Akron, OH; his brothers, Larry (Linda) Pearl of Houston, TX and Tommy Pearl of Akron, OH; his close friend whom he considered a brother, Timmy (Francis) Williams; his high school sweetheart, Sandra Scott; his daughter, Dr. Chivonna (Phillip) Childs of Euclid, OH; his sons, Troy Upton, Brandon Harrison and Chevin Meadows of Akron, OH; his grandchildren, Breajanae Harrison and Philip Childs, Jr.; his nieces, LaShawn Johnson, Jaqueline Johnson, Monique Johnson, Deona Cooper, Chantel Pearl and Domonique Williams; his nephews, Decius Pearl and Larry T. Pearl; his dance partner, Ms. Tina Watt and special friend, Veretta Moore, as well as, host of family and special friends. If you knew him, you too were special.
