Silas S. Evans, Jr., 79, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2010. Silas was a veteran of the US Air Force. He took great pride in his work as a bus driver, having driven for Greyhound for 28 years. He retired from Metro Transit after 15 years of service, where he drove students from St. V elementary . Silas was a member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church where he loved singing in the choir. Preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Smith and Betty Humphreys. Survivors include his beloved wife, Mabel June, of 13 years; stepson, James (Nora) Stackpole. Many thanks to those who visited and cared for Silas during his illness. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, 1767 Goodyear Blvd. Akron, Rev. John Phillips officiating. Interment to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at Church.
