Sophie (Cornette) Johnston
November 11, 1926 — July 10, 2012
Sophie J. Johnston (Cornette), 85, of Akron, went home to be with her Lord on July 10, 2012. She was born in Ashland, KY on November, 11, 1926 to the late Howard and Bertha Cornette.
Sophie loved her church family at Harmony Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; brothers, Walter and William Cornette; sister, Elizabeth McKenzie.
Sophie is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Robert Bell) and Phyllis; nieces and nephews; many special friends who are considered family.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, July 12, from 4-7 PM and on Friday, July 13 from 10-11 AM at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will follow on Friday the 13th at 11 AM with Rev. Bernard Christy officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
