Stanley L. Smith, 86, passed away on September 17, 2010 and has been reunited with the love of his life, Juanita. He was born on June 28, 1924 in Tracey City, TN to the late Sam and Nancy (Gipson) Smith. Stanley was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a self-made man in all he did. Above all, he loved his family dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita J. Smith; sister, Susie Stricklin; and brother, James Charles Smith. Survivors include daughter, Donna (George) Asbury; sons, Jerry (Becky), Jack (Fran) and Douglas (Kathy); nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Willie Bailey; brother, Johnnie Ray (Joan) Smith. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Bob Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family would like to extend their thanks to Essex Health Care of Tallmadge for the care given. Memorial Contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 704 N. Firestone Blvd., Akron OH 44306.
