Stephanie Ann Peel (Galati)
Stephanie Ann Peel, 65, of Akron, went to be with Jesus Dec. 20, 2012 after a 17-year courageous battle against a debilitating disease. Stephanie dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age and with love, kindness and grace, did everything she could to bring others into the kingdom. Even after being diagnosed with a terminal condition she fought the illness and went on to earn a master's degree from Ashland Theological Seminary. After graduation she counseled countless individuals at Emerge Ministries before the effects of the disease forced her to retire.She never lost her faith, always praising God for His goodness, even as her infirmities increased. She witnessed to everyone, and counseled anyone in need even as she endured numerous painful medical procedures.
Stephanie is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Kenneth; daughter and son-in-law, Chrissy and Robb Lavy; son, Mikey; grandchildren, Nicholas, Olivia and Nathan Lavy; sister, Dorothy Markulis (Joe); brothers, Gary (Wilma), and Jeffrey (Mary Ellen) Galati; Aunts Nancy Gowans (David) and Dolores McGary; lifelong friend, Karan Armstrong; and numerous nieces, nephews,cousins and a multitude of friends.
A celebration of Stephanie's life will be Saturday, Dec. 29 at noon at Faith Bible Fellowship, 126 W. Overdale, Tallmadge. Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. until the noon service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Hines and his staff and the technicians, nurses and staff at Summa's City Hospital for their loving care and kindnesses during Stephanie's illness. Special thanks, also, for Pastor Les and Linda Sutherland and their wonderfully supportive congregation at Faith Bible Fellowship.
