Stephen D. Oxley
Stephen D. Oxley, 56, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2009. He was born on December 22, 1952 in Charleston, WV and had been an Akron resident for most of his life. Stephen was a 1971 graduate of East High School and had earned a BSME and a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron. He was a member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church and had worked for Grumman, Piper, AVCO, Boeing, and Lockheed. Stephen had many interests and stayed busy all of the time. He was an airplane enthusiast. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and had even built a plane of his own design. Stephen was artistic in many ways and enjoyed painting. He had also completed an extensive study on the origin of languages. Preceded in death by his father Ronald and brother Gary Alan. Survivors include his mother Beatrice; brother Ron; nephew John; special cousin Greg; good friend Dan; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Franklin Cemetery in Branchland, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Summa or Goodyear Heights Baptist Church.
