Steven James Moss, age 31, a beloved carpenter with an infectious smile and a heart as big as his ambitions, departed this world on December 17, 2024, leaving a profound impact on all who had the privilege to know him. Born on January 30, 1993, in Akron, the family moved to Southern Illinois and returned to Akron. Steven was a vibrant presence, whose laughter and goofy antics filled the lives of his family and friends with joy.
Throughout his life, Steven was driven by a passion for basketball, not just as a player but as a way to connect with his community. His time playing basketball for NCOE was filled with memories that showcased not only his athleticism but also his charismatic spirit that drew others to him. He graduated from NCEO, a testament to his dedication and resilience.
Steven’s greatest pride was his role as a father. His children, Zyler Steven, Jordan, Taylor, and Jeremy James, were the very essence of his being. His love for them was boundless, and it radiated through every moment they shared. He cherished the simplicity of fatherhood, nurturing their dreams while creating an environment brimming with laughter and love.
Steven's essence was woven through every interaction; his humorous personality made people laugh-often at the slightest whim. This ability to bring joy was a signature part of who he was. Friends and family alike recall his big heart, one that embraced anyone in need and offered warmth during both joyous and challenging times.
In the embrace of his family, Steven leaves behind his devoted parents, Paula and Nick Stecyk, along with his sister, Jennifer Cable and brother from another mother, Taron Green. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandparents, Steven and Virginia Lanham, his grandmother Sandra Lehman, and his grandfather Paul Moss, as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousin, nephews and nieces, and friends, including special friend Mel-Mel, who felt his impact throughout their lives.
As we reflect on Steven's journey, we remember a man whose legacy lives on through the laughter he sparked, the love he fostered, and the memories he created. May his spirit find peace, and may we honor his memory by cherishing our own moments of joy.
Visitation will be Sunday December 22nd from 2-4 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home with services beginning promptly at 4 PM. Memorials may be made to the family.
