T. Charlene Smith

Thelma Charlene Smith, age 80, resident of N. Canton, OH went to be with Jesus at her home, with loved ones at her side, on Monday, March 4, 2013. She was born February 26, 1933 to the late Lenora and "Dutch" Calihan in Byesville, OH. Charlene was a member of First Baptist Church of Cambridge, OH. She loved her family and dedicated her whole life to them. She was the greatest mother, sister, grandmother and friend that anyone could ever have and was known as everyone's mother due to her generosity and loving heart. She enjoyed flowers, watching ducks on the pond, and the beach, saying it made her feel closer to heaven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Smith; sister, LaWanda Hogan; and grandson, Matthew Smith. She is survived by her sister, Janice (Charlie) Hupp; loving daughter, Wendy Smith of N. Canton; loving sons, Rick Smith of Sandusky, OH, Gary (Sherrie) Smith of Mogadore, OH and Rev. Mark (Debi) Smith of Cambridge, OH; 5 grandchildren, Jo Jo May of TN, Michelle (Craig) Berentz of Clinton, OH, Kristie (Dave) Sheeler of Mogadore, OH, Lindsay (John) Straub of Mogadore OH, and Malisa Smith of Cambridge, OH; 4 great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Elaina, Mollie, and Giuliana.

Charlene requested memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Summa Health System or First Baptist Church of Cambridge, OH. The family wishes to thank all of those who helped care for her during her illness. Charlene requested a private burial at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. The service will be officiated by her son, Rev. Mark Smith.
