Terrence W. Lay, "Terry," age 87 of Akron, Ohio, died on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at McMullen Assisted Care Center in Loudonville.
He was born on March 21, 1931 in Lyndon, Kentucky, the son of the late Carlton and Aileen (nee Shaver) Lay.
Terry loved to work on cars and tinker around the house. He loved to travel with his beloved late wife, Evelyn. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his wife, the former Evelyn File on August 28, 2016, whom he married on November 18, 1951; his son, Douglas Lay; and his brother, James Michael "Mike" Lay.
Survivors include his daughter, Janice McBee of Lakeville; his grandchildren, Sarah and Nathan Krieg, Jacob McBee, and Emma and Nevan Zook; and his great-grandchildren, Addie and Micah. His siblings also survive, Molly Lay and Glenn Lay.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where Pastor Larry Baldridge will celebrate Terry's life.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home from 2:00 - 2:30 PM on Saturday.
