Terry Orman

Terry O. Orman, 60, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on April 28, 2005. God has taken away your pain and suffering and now you can rest. Terry retired from Ameritech in 1999 after 33 years of dedicated service and worked 26 years without missing a day of work. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. He was a member of Akron Lodge No. 83. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved the Yankees and anything Ohio State. Terry was a well-respected softball and basketball coach in the area for nearly three decades. "Mr. O" touched so many and was truly in his glory when he was helping these little girls learn the game, and the game wasn't over until the team went for ice cream. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Addie Orman and sister, Dorothy Engle. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Glynda Orman; daughters, Heather (James) Chapman and Amanda (Michael) Marzich; brothers, Ronald (Frances) Orman and William Orman; sister, Gay Clark; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Thelma White; brothers-in-law, William (Patricia) White and Wayne (April) White; sister-in-law, Sharon (Richard) Brewen; nieces, Lori White, Gerilee Polk, Dana Urguiza, Angie Clever, Carla Andres, and Tracy; nephews, Jerry, Ronald Orman, Roy Orman, and Jared White. Times spent with Terry's grandchildren, Jason, Alana, and Drew were so special to him. Grandpa, we will miss your phone calls, storytelling, your "surprises", and we will never forget you. The family would like to thank the ICU nursing staff and Palliative Care Team at Akron City Hospital for the loving care given to Terry. A heartfelt thank you to our special friend, Carrie Matthews, RN, whose sense of humor made this past week a little more bearable. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 3 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with Dr. Edward W. Peirce officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Baptist Church of Tallmadge, Tallmadge, Ohio.
