Terry E. Patton

Terry Eugene Patton sadly passed away surrounded by family in his home in Akron, Ohio on October 15th, 2024 after a long battle with kidney cancer. Terry was born in Rochelle, IL to Betty Overton and William Patton on July 15th, 1958. He was one of 11 children. Terry served 21 years in the military and he retired as a Staff Sergeant. He worked various jobs throughout his life. He later found that he enjoyed driving a semi-truck across the country and getting to stop and see his family when he had the opportunity. He was very dedicated to his wife Mary, always looking for ways to surprise her with meaning like making custom playlist CD’s for her or going back to the store and getting her the necklace he noticed she liked. 

Even in his weakest moments he was strong and he told everyone he was ok, he just wanted his family to enjoy time with him and create memories. His family will remember him as a proud man who valued hard work, honesty, and the value of a man’s word. 

Terry is preceded in death by his mother Betty Overton Graham, father Howard Graham, sister Chrissy Warner, brothers Rodger Patton and John Patton. 

Terry is survived by his wife Mary Patton, his children Amy (David) Pollock, Tonya (Scott) Brock, Dale (Samantha) Patton, Melinda (Seth) Anderson, his grandchildren Brian Patton(Son), Chance Patton, Sierra Cruz, Travis Patton, Danika Patton, Emily Widrig, Destiny Patton, Dawn Patton, Tristan Broker, Tori Pollock, Mackenzie Pollock, Dominic Broker, Samantha(David) Prather, Sean Wright, Troy Decker, and Damion Anderson.

In lieu of flowers memorial cards or contributions can be sent In care of Terry Patton to 67 E North Ave Cortland, IL 60112. A celebration of Life will be held on Sunday November 3rd from 12 noon to 3 PM at Cortland Lion's Club, 70 S. Llanos St., Cortland, IL 60112 with military honors scheduled at 1 PM.
