Thelma Ambrose, 95, was called home by God on July 8, 2011. She was born in Tennessee, and spent most of her life in Akron. Thelma attended Chapel of Prayer Baptist Church, and was an avid square dancer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Ambrose; brothers, C. A., Carl, George, and Kenneth Henry; and sisters, Mildred Swafford, and Lena Tollett. Thelma is survived by her son, Robert Ambrose; niece Jean (Bill) Adams; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Elenor Hopkins. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 12, from 11 am to 1 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will follow at 1 pm. Burial to take place at Mt. Peace Cemetery.
