Thelma E. VanHorn, age 66 of Kent, Ohio, died on April 25, 2023.
She was born on December 21, 1956 in Ravenna, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Kathryn (nee Stephens) VanHorn.
Thelma loved Elvis and Fleetwood Mac, music, dancing, fishing and watching her favorite movies on TV. Her greatest joy was spending time with her girls and their families.
Survivors include her daughters, Rhonda (Jon Black) Ayers of Conway, Arkansas and Michelle (Gabriel) Gutierrez Sr of Kent; her grandchildren, Stephanie (David Matthews) Doak, Brandi (Zak) Medrano, Haylee Black, Nevada (Dominick Kimble) Gutierrez, Gabriel Gutierrez Jr, Nina Gutierrez; and her great-grandchildren, Lexi, Pyper, Isabella, Weston and Ellie.
Thelma also has her sisters, 'The Three Amigas', that remain to mourn her loss, Dorothy (Roby) Belcher, Norma (Jay) LeMaster and Sherri (Lee) Smith; her nieces and nephews, including her nephew and fishing buddy, Daniel (Tracy) Spaulding; and her dear friends, Bill, Kris and Davida.
Other than her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary Ayers; and her siblings, Carol VanHorn, Billy VanHorn, Mildred Wildman, Merle VanHorn, Chuck VanHorn and Harold VanHorn.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 4:00 -8:00 PM at Fred Fuller Park Jailhouse Shelter, 497 Middlebury Road, Kent, Ohio 44240.
All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron, Ohio.
