Thomas E. "Tom" Baldt, age 76, surrounded by his loving family, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 10, 2023. He was born in Elyria, Ohio on March 1, 1947, to the late Ellsworth and Luetta (nee DeWitt) Baldt. He graduated from Oberlin High School in 1965 before enlisting in the US Air Force where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5).
Tom was a lifetime resident of Akron, Ohio, and an employee of Roadway Express for 34 years. He was a member of First Evangelical Congregational Church in Akron where he served on the Official Board as the Head Trustee. Tom was a gifted problem solver, builder, and mentor who was fascinated by American history, questioned everything, loved to travel, and was always willing to help others. Tom was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
Furthermore, Tom was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, spouse, partner, brother, and son.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (nee Dotson) Baldt; his brothers-in-law, Glenn Harville, Robert Lapp, Dick Thatcher, and William Dotson; and his granddaughter, Josie Hyde.
Tom is survived by his partner, Pamela (nee Paramore) Stepp; his daughter, Dawn (Chip) Seymour; his sisters, Marilyn Harville and Donna Lapp; his brothers-in-law, Jim (Beth) Dotson and John (Gina) Dotson; his sisters-in-law, Diane Thatcher and Dorothy Moser; his step-children, Melissa Leach and Jennifer Hyde; his grandchildren, Katie Seymour, Morgan Leach, Jonah Combs, Jordan Combs, and Riley Hyde; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends may visit Monday, August 14, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm at the First Evangelical Congregational Church, 369 E. Woodsdale Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44301.
Burial will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Evangelical Congregational Church.
