Thomas J. Burns

Thomas J. Burns, 70, of Akron, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 31, 2017. He was born on December 21, 1947 in Osceola Mills, PA to the late Raymond and Margaret Burns.
Tom proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and retired with over 30 years of service with Goodyear Tire and Rubber and Viox. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Tom could often be found enjoying a day of golf or fishing. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Christine; children, Dr. Carrie (Dr. Lewis III) Diulus, Brian Burns, and Renee Burns; brothers, Michael (Linda), Patrick (Betsy), Gerald, and Lawrence (Sue) Burns; grandchildren, Megan Diulus, Lewis Diulus IV, Ellianna Burns, Trenton Burns, and Phillycia Wilson; many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne St., Akron.
