Please click here to view.Thomas M. Keeling Sr., 93, peacefully went home to be with our Lord on March 19, 2024. He was born on September 12, 1930. He was the son of the late Thurston and Alice Lorene Keeling. Tom loved his Savior and was a lifelong member of Mogadore Baptist Church. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School and with his love of music, was the Choir Director for many years. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Army serving in the 45th Infantry as a Corporal. He retired from Yellow Freight as a long-distance truck driver, after many years of dedicated service as a member of the Teamster Local #407. Tom loved hunting and fishing with his sons, daughters and friends all the way up to his 92nd year of life! He was known for his beautiful flower gardens, especially his roses and vegetable gardens. Tom was an avid Ohio State Football and Cleveland Brown's Fan. He will always be remembered for his hard work, great laugh, love of Jesus, of country, and love of his whole family, especially his grandchildren who lovingly called him "Grampy Grump" and "Shark". Tom also loved playing "senior rummy" with his daughters and anyone else who wanted to learn the game!
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 59 years, Lois, daughter Kelly Ann Keeling; brother Bill Keeling; and sister Nancy Haren; Grandson Royce W. Knapp; grand niece Lindsay Nichols;
Tom is survived by his loving family, children Tom (Kelly O'Brien) Keeling, Danny (Karen) Keeling, Ron (June Guzzo) Keeling, Jeanie (Randy) Knapp, Pam (Jim Garner) Piatt, and Teresa (R.J) Johnson; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- granddaughter; brother David (Edith) Keeling; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A very special thank you to Gentiva Hospice (Nurse Jackie, Jen & Rachel who showed such love and compassion, along with the VA Visiting Angels home health aides Dixie and Teri who cared for him so well!
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2nd from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron 44305) where services will be held at 12:30pm with Pastor Robert Seymour officiating. Interment will take place at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield.
