Thomas W. Munson
Thomas W. Munson, 80, passed away on November 6, 2006. Born November 9, 1925 in Beaumont, TX to the late Robert and Bethal Munson. Thomas served with the US Navy during WWII and received a Presidential Citation for sinking a Japanese ship in the Atlantic. He retired from the City of Akron Water Dept. after 18 years of service and was a master carpenter who could fix anything. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Jimmy; sister Betty; and grandson Darryl. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia; daughter Gerry Munson; son Thomas; grandchildren Chad and Tina; and numerous great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, 2 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Online condolences may be made at www.Newcomerfamily.com.
