Tia Simone Carmona, 57, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2025. Tia was born in Akron on May 22, 1967 to the late William and Alder Chapman. She graduated from Central Hower High School in 1985 before attending Kent State University where she studied journalism.
Tia loved to express herself through the written word. She was a wonderful writer and poet. She also enjoyed reading and was able to immerse herself in books during her employment at the Akron Public Library as a young woman.
Tia had a warm spirit and made friends wherever she went. She was always the life of the party and was quick with a smile and a joke. She loved to listen to music and go out dancing as well as family gatherings where she showed her love through her excellent cooking.
Tia's daughters remember how she could make simple outings special. They fondly remember spending days outdoors at the park, feeding the ducks and enjoying the sunshine with their mom.
Although Tia had personal struggles, she never let them keep her down for long. Her strength and positive attitude served as an example to her loved ones of how to persevere in trying circumstances. Tia's lived her life fully and will be truly missed by everyone who knew her. She will live on through the memories and hearts of all her precious family and friends.
Tia leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters, Tiana Carmona (Quincy) and Ashante (James) Leggett; sisters, Kim Chapman and Cheryl Chapman; grandchildren, Damir, Davin, David, and Dion; nieces and nephews, Omar Bridgeforth, Kaylynn Bridgeforth, and Jaylon Garner; great-niece, Ahnija and great-nephew, Kristian; and a host of other relatives and close friends.
Tia's family will celebrate her life privately.
