Timothy Patrick "Tim" Gifford, 76, of Munroe Falls, passed away on February 12, 2023. He was born in Akron on March 17, 1946 to the late Wilbert and Rita {Murphy} Gifford.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jim Drey.
Tim is survived by his loving son Jim (Kate) Gifford, daughter Liz (C.J.) Porter; grandchildren Emilia and James Gifford and Luke and Faith Porter; sister, Pam Gifford; companion Olga Johnson; many dear friends.
Tim attended Annunciation School and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. He retired in 2011 after a long career in the IT industry, where he made friends out of colleagues everywhere he worked.
On November 22, 1975, Tim began his journey to a life of sobriety and fellowship in Alcoholics Anonymous. He became a beacon of light, showing the way for others on the path to recovery over the course of 47 years and exemplified the fact that you do not have to drink alcohol to have a good time. In those rooms, he found his chosen family, an experience he would often refer to as serendipity.
Tim was full of life and laughter, and most enjoyed sharing that joy with others. He will be fondly remembered for a great many reasons, but most of all, for his laid-back, often sarcastic, completely welcoming presence. Tim was a trusted friend, an adoring grandfather, a devoted father and one of the most gentle and encouraging spirits, who will be incredibly missed by those blessed enough to know him.
Special thanks to Carl and Betty Buck, and BG Labbe for the loving care and support they provided to Tim and his family through his final days.
