Tomasine "Tommie" Marie Moore
Tomasine "Tommie" Marie Moore, 53, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, April 10, 2005 after a short illness. She was a resident of Akron most of her life. Due to an unfortunate car accident in 1965 she became a quadriplegic. Despite her disabilities she graduated with her Kenmore Class of 1969, and went to Wright State University in Dayton, receiving her B.S. Degree in Rehabilitation Education in 1989. Tommie always had a smile on her face and wouldn't let her disability keep her down. She was preceded in death by her father, James R. Moore and her grandparents. She leaves behind her mother, Mary Moore-Athey; brother, Daniel R.; her sister and best friend, Linda (Mark) McMahon; and her loving cat, Panther. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12 - 1 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Kim W. Lawrence will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the I.C.U., Select Care staff and especially Dr. Brad Martin of City Hospital for their care and kindness to Tommie.
