Vadie Penix, 78, of Atwater, passed away August 11, 2008. Vadie was born September 7, 1929 in Inez, Kentucky to the late Fred and Josie Fannin. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and had many interests, including sewing, quilting, gardening, and watching the birds in her yard. Vadie was preceded in death by her husband, William; sons, Glenn and John; and grandson, Russell William. She is survived by her sons, William (Linda), Stewart Neal (Lynn), and Russell Thomas (Joan); daughter-in-law, Carol; sisters, Alice Meade and Ina Cochran; brother, James (Shirley) Fannin; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Thursday 10 a.m., Pastor Jack Earlenbaugh officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
