Valerie Lee Congrove, 50, of Akron, passed away September 10, 2010. Valerie was born in Akron on February 27, 1960. She graduated from Woodridge High School where she was a member of the marching band and played the piccolo, flute, and violin. She attended classes at the University of Akron. Valerie lived in Nashville, TN for 22 years and worked in administration for both Child Support Services and the Women's Health Group. She returned to Akron to take care of her grandmother and was currently employed as a patient coordinator at Akron General Medical Center. Valerie will be deeply missed by her father, James Congrove; mother and stepfather, Marsha and Dr. Jack Cothren; sister and brother-in-law, Kimberley K. and Cole Calligan; siblings, Jack, Edward, and Quenten Cothren and Cindy Henderson; grandmother, Elsie Congrove; aunts, Ruth Congrove and Carol (Jim) Penny; uncle, Robert (Lynn) Congrove; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. celebration of Valerie's life at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd.
