Valley A. Phillips, 88, of Akron, passed away at home surrounded by loving family and friends on August 7, 2007. Valley will always be remembered for her love of cooking and entertaining. She always had a story to share with family and friends. Above all, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Valley was preceded in death by her husband, Coye Phillips; daughters, Virginia and Holly; and son, Otto. She is survived by her children, Carl, Don, Joe (Lil), Paul (Katie), Toye (Raymond) Gooding, Ella (Sam) Njegovan, Janet (Owen) Patterson, Tom (Jennifer), and John (Thelma); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Community Baptist Temple, 1398 Canton Rd., with Pastor Mark O'Donnell officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
