Vauneta (nee Covey) Baird, 90, passed away November 25, 2009 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Newport, Arkansas and was a member of the East Market Church of God. Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Edgar Baird; parents, Hurkless and Dessie Covey; daughter, Charlotte Evenson; grandson, Edward D. Keller; and brother, Bob Covey. Vauneta is survived by her children, Park and Karen Yocom Stimson of Idaho, Larry Stimson, Terry and Pat Stimson, Ruth and David Yauger of Florida, Christine Baird of South Carolina, Steven Baird and Sue and Otto Blake; grandson and caregiver, Todd Stimson; sister, Kay Robinson of North Carolina; brother, Alvin and Ida Covey; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 2, at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
