Velda I. Scott

Velda I. Scott, 91, went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2017. She was born September 29, 1925 in Akron to late parents Earl and Ethel Goddard. Velda grew up in Akron, attending Garfield HS and working at O'Neil's department store. She enjoyed gardening, camping, sharing a craft business with her husband, Forrest, and spoiling her cats. Velda liked reading the bible and regularly attended bible study led by Joe Frano.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Forrest; sisters, Cleo Carper and Louise Neill. Velda is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Langley and Debra (James) Buchanan; grandchildren, Christy (Steve) Steagall, Erica (Todd) Criswell, Kara (Jason) Willingham, Susan Garrison, Julie (Robert Hessler) Garrison; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Robbie, J.T., Jala, Ella, Amaya, Theodore, Izak, Aria; great-great-granddaughter, Sophia; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11:00am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service will take place at 12:00pm with interment at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg, to follow.
