Velva L. Yeager
Velva L. Yeager, 83, of Akron, passed away on May 21, 2009. She was born in Branchland, West Virginia on August 3, 1925. She was the youngest of 12 children. She worked for a time in Edgewood, Maryland as Rosie the Riveter, loading hand grenades on box cars. After returning to West Virginia, she married and gave birth to five children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Russell; son Ernest and his wife, Lorene; and grandson, Jon. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Yeager (Tracie Neely) and Bonnie Kinney (Donald) and sons, Daughten Leo Yeager (Lynda), all of Akron,and Shannon Barber (Duane Sarac) of Barberton; and special family friend, Becky Thomas; brother, Clyde Franklin of Branchland, W.Va. Velva also loved and adored all her beautiful grandchildren, Lori, Adam, Kelly, Heather, Sarah, and Shannon; and many others and many great-grandchildren. Our family would like to thank Summa Hospice for their loving care until the end and her loving granddaughter Kelly, her caregiver and angel here on earth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Summa Hospice, the Battered Women's Shelter, or the Lake View Lighthouse Church, 1065 Kubler St., Akron, OH 44312. Per Mom's request, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be at the church with Pastor Dwayne Ray officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park.
