Vincent Dale Holman, age 56, on April 5, 2021 entered into eternal rest and is now at peace. Vince was a 1983 graduate of Springfield High School. He was the owner of Grandma's cupboard candy store for many years and was loved by all his customers.
Vince had the biggest smile and an infectious laugh, tall and handsome and so fun to be with, he never met a stranger that he didn't find the ability to strike up a conversation with. His favorite pastime was fishing, he loved being on the lake and had a huge collection of fishing lures. He would just beam when he talked about the fish he caught. He was a very generous soul and a huge animal lover, even saving a litter of skunks after their mother got hit by a car. He took in many homeless cats and gave them all the best home. Vince had the greatest knack for decorating and collecting antiques. He was just a happy go lucky guy, growing up with his many cousins, his two favorites were Christine and Julie, who were like his sisters, very close, always having fun.
Vince was a tormented spirit trying to deal with all his past choices and their consequences, using alcohol as his solution to all his problems. He tried many treatments but always went back to the escape of his addiction. As his parents, we will miss him terribly, but as his mother I will no longer have to witness his pain or worry about this day coming because it is here. My one solace is that his tormented spirit has now been released from his body and is now in the arms of God. We all loved Vince with every fiber of our being, but none of that love could protect him from this world. If love alone could save him, he'd be here now.
Forever missed and loved by daughter, Gretchen Holman Delaney; parents, Tom and Vada Holman of Suffield, Ohio; brother, Robert (Helen) Holman and nieces, Alexis and Leah of Pennsylvania; half brothers, Tommy and Troy of Texas; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 12 noon - 2 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Masks will be mandatory. A celebration of Vince's life will be held at a later date.
