Violet Abrams (Oklyesha)

Violet Abrams, 83, passed away September 22, 2004, with family at her side. She was born April 4, 1921 to the late Samuel and Mary Oklyesha. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Abrams; sisters, Mildred Medjed, Luella Campbell, and Helen George; brother, Steven Oklesh. She leaves her daughter, Marilyn (Loran) Jenkins of Akron; sons, Steven (Jennifer) of Grand Junction, CO and Kenneth (Theresa) of Akron; sister, Josephine Reddish of Mogadore; ten grandchildren;six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Violet worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company during World War II. She was a cashier at A&P Grocery store and a barmaid at the Serbian Orthodox Club. She dedicated her life to raising her children. Violet belonged to the Daughters of America and was president of the Akron Majorette and Drum Corp. The family would like to thank the Hospice Visiting Nurse Service for all the care given to Violet. Special thanks to Lori Maly and Beverly Butts. Friends and family may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. p.m. with Bishop Nelson Pamer officiating. Visitation for one hour prior to the service. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice Visiting Nurses Service.
