Violet K. Rowles (nee Walters)
Violet K. Rowles, 92, passed away on August 7, 2011. She retired from Permanent Federal Savings & Loan and had also worked at H & R Block, O'Neil's, and F.W. Woolworth. Violet graduated from Green High School in 1936. She was an active member of Goodyear Heights United Methodist Church since 1948, a choir member and a leader in every facet of the church. Violet was a member of Akron-Summit County Federation of Women, Eastern Star, and Aladdin Book Club. She was a volunteer for Open-M and the Red Cross. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert, in 1995; parents, George and Eura Walters; mother, Helen Pitman; and her half-brother, Paul Moore. Survived by brother, Richard Walters, of Prescott, AZ; daughter, Peggy Johnston; sons, David L. and Donald R. (Marcia); granddaughters, Pamela McCauley, Deborah Orostin, Carrie Pierce, Krista Sheetz, and Kelly Preston; 12 great-grandchildren; half-sister, Jane; 7 nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service Thursday, 10 a.m. at Goodyear Heights U.M.C., 1690 Hillside Terrace, Akron.
