Violet Mae Huffman "Tickie"

Violet Mae Huffman, 82, went on to Glory on December 6, 2013. Violet was born on January 9, 1931 to the late Rev. Clifford and Mona (Riggs) Slonaker. She was devoted to her family and took great pride in caring for her home. She loved playing religious songs on the organ and listening to religious music. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband, John Nelson Sr.; sisters, Martha Slonaker and Mary Miller; and brother, Rev. Ronald Slonaker. Survivors include her children, Barbara (Ronald) Ratliff of Phoenix, John (Donita) Huffman Jr. of Springfield Twp, Mike (Sandy) Huffman of Springfield Twp, Roger (Deborah) Huffman of Doylestown, and Gary (Shirley) Huffman of Tallmadge; siblings, Naomi (Pedro) Ogas of Parma, Rev. Raymond Slonaker of WV, and Evelyn (Rev. Lloyd) Iglehart of WV; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 10 from 11-1 followed by a 1:00 p.m. funeral service with Pastor Donita Huffman officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
