Virginia A "Aunt Jennie" Willliams, 96, of Akron, died peacefully November 10, 2004. Virginia was born in Vickers, W.V. on May 25, 1908 to Sarah Hattie Shaffer. She moved to Akron in the mid 1930's. Virginia worked in the laboratories at the Quaker Oats Company in Akron. Quaker Oats relocated Virginia and her husband Burl T Williams to the plant in Depew, New York from 1958-1967. After Burl's retirement they returned to Akron. Aunt Jennie was a loving, nurturing aunt to her three generations of nephews and nieces, and will be greatly missed. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Burl T Willliams, her mother, Sarah Hattie (Shaffer) Bird, Step-father Frank Bird, brothers Chilton Bird, Herbert (Irish) Bird, John Bird and Amos Bird, sisters Edna Bird, Georgia Slade, and Frankie Rodabaugh. She is survived by her sister Margaret Mullins of Akron, step-son Rex Williams of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, two step-grandchildren, four nephews, eight nieces, several grandnephews and grandnieces, and several great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces. Calling hours will be Friday, from 5-8 PM at Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Graveside services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park on Saturday at 9 AM.
