Virginia Ann Bishop "Jenny"

Virginia Ann Bishop "Jenny", 72, of Tallmadge, passed away peacefully at her home on October 13, 2024. She was born in Akron, Ohio on March 6, 1952 to the late William and Mary Oreolt. She retired from Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority and was a parishioner at St. Matthew Catholic Church.

Jenny was very creative and spent many hours crafting and making Shutterfly photo albums. She also loved traveling. Some of her favorite memories were made during trips to New England and Europe. Her visit to Italy was particularly special to her.

Jenny's generous spirit was never more evident than when she hosted people at her home. Family get togethers and holiday parties were always an opportunity for her to express her "need to feed" others. She always joked that this was due to her Italian heritage. She was a wonderful cook and baker and loved to make others feel cared for and special. 

Jenny maintained her sweet personality throughout her health trials and will be dearly missed and admired by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Jenny was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Oreolt.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Victor Bishop; loving daughter, Melissa Bishop; siblings, William Oreolt and Margie (Tim) Linton; brothers-in-law, John (Judy) Bishop and Rick (Karen) Bishop; nieces and nephews, Rick, Becky, Yanci, Margo, Ila, Mary, Max, JJ, Katie, Corey, Eric and their families. Jenny also leaves close family friends, Sandy Canali, Jess and Jared and Ezra Taylor, and her best friend, Carol Heben.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne St., Akron, Ohio. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
