Virginia Opal Jones - Obituary
Virginia Opal Jones, 83, went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Hospice of VNS Care Center in Akron, Ohio. She was born in Jonesville, Virginia on November 16, 1924. Opal was preceded in death by Davis Buford Jones, her husband of 54 years and by seven siblings. Living in the small city of Tipton, Indiana was a great source of pride for her. For the last 2½ years, Opal's home has been with her daughter, Deena, and her family in Akron, Ohio.
Her family and friends will remember her most for her love of the Lord, her quick smile, her love for people of all ages, and her memorable wit. An avid gardener, Opal enjoyed sharing her flowers with others. Her greatest pleasure in life was being with her family. She is survived by her three daughters: Sharon Davene Strong, Vicki (Jeff) Baker and Deena (Ed) Cole.
Opal was so proud of her grandchildren: Kristin Prokop, Jeffrey (Denise) Cole, Robert (Veronica) Strong, Jennifer Cole and Jordan Baker. She also had eight great-grandchildren: Andy and Kate Brock, Logan and Liam Strong, and Johnathan, Adelaide, Emmalyne and Russell Cole.
The family would like to say a special thank-you to Beth McVan at Cambridge Home Health Care, the kind staff at Hospice of VNS and especially to Dr. Atul Goswami, Opal's beloved physician and friend.
Calling hours and funeral service will be held at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton, Indiana with burial at the Tipton Fairview Cemetery.
Opal's new residence and citizenship are now officially in Heaven!
