Waldo McCray, 90, passed away on November 27, 2022. He was born on February 20, 1932 the son of the late N.S. and Esther McCray.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Waldo retired from the Chrysler Company after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Order of Akron Mason. Waldo enjoyed the outdoors and skeet shooting. He was known for his beautiful landscape paintings. His greatest passion was his love for dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley McCray; and four siblings.
Waldo is survived by his children, Wallace (Linda) McCray, Robert Lakowsky, Sally Johnson, Darwin (Michele) McCray, Waldo (Amy) McCray, and Samuel McCray; the legacy he leaves behind are his many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sister Freda Schoeppner; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron).
Interment will be held at Hillside Memorial Park.
