Wallace Groves

Wallace "Wayne" Groves, 76, of Akron, passed away on February 3, 2024 at Summa Akron City Hospital. He was born on January 20, 1948 in Widen, WV to the late Wallace D. and Macel Groves. Wayne retired from Georgia Pacific after 28 years. He was very outdoorsy and enjoyed fishing, hunting, mowing, woodworking, and road trips. Wayne was a veteran and very proud to be a marine. He was a family man who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Nora Groves; children Brenda (Bob) Sarka, Chris Groves, Kevin (Becky) Groves; grandchildren Asia Crosby, Frankie Tanner, Gavin Groves, and Farrah Groves; great-grandchildren Brantley, Brayden and Brinley Crosby; best friends Lee Hickman, Steve Gibson, Bill and Rose Bush. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Eric Groves, sister Marcey Seeley, and son-in-law Ray Tanner.

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Akron, Ohio.
A service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
