Walter Richard Brigger, "Rick", age 71 of Randolph Twp., Ohio, died on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Arbors of Stow.
He was born on June 16, 1947 in Akron, the son of Dorothy (nee Wolfe) Brigger of Berlin Center, Ohio, and the late Wayne Brigger, Sr.
Rick was an honorably discharged US Air Force veteran during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Brigger graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and the University of Akron, he earned a bachelors degree in marketing. He was retired from Marlboro Manufacturing as a plant manager.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, he was a train enthusiast, and liked target shooting. Rick was also a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and also was a Hot Stove Coach. He was a master carpenter and loved to make things. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Elinor A. Wilcox "Ev", whom he married on March 27, 1967; his children, James E. Brigger, Jennifer E. Peters, and Jason R. (Ammie) Brigger; his grandchildren, Elena and Sophia Peters, Thomas and Christopher Brigger. His siblings, Dale E. (Marge) Brigger, Kathryn Brigger, and Carol (Carl) Tkacs also survive.
Other than his father, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Brigger, Jr.
Memorial calling hours will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
Rick will be laid to rest at a later dater at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio with military honors.
