Walter J. Bauer
Walter J. Bauer, 97, of Akron, passed away January 16, 2014. He was born in Akron on March 23, 1916 to the late John and Maude Bauer.
Walter was a lifelong member of Trinity U.C.C. and resident of North Hill, having recently moved to Western Reserve Masonic Community. He graduated from North High School and attended college in Valparaiso, IN. He is a veteran of WWII when he was in the Army Air Corps. He was devoted to his wife and missed her every single day. He was known for his love of golf and was an avid golfer, as well as a fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns. The family would like to thank the Skilled Nursing & staff of WRMC for their support and excellent care of Walter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; brothers, King and Edward; Sisters, Margaret McIntire, Alice Snowden and Dorothy Stroh. Walter is survived by his daughters, Vicky (John) Bryg, Ann Owen, & Nancy (Marc) Morris; Grandchildren, Katherine, Cindy, Nicole & Trent; great grandchildren, Emily, Tyler and Christina.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, January 22, from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, January 23 from 11 a.m -12 p.m.at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. A funeral service will follow Thursday's calling hours at 12 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Carl P. Wallace officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
