Walt, age 95, passed away March 20, 2018. Born July 3, 1922 in Circleville, OH to the late Estella (Reber) Palm and Carl Palm. He grew up on the farm and after graduation entered the Army and served in Panama in WW II.
He had many ventures in his early years, including a parking lot business in Columbus and he was the founder of "Judy's Potato Chip" company. He settled in Akron and worked at Goodyear Aerospace as a Buyer until retirement in 1986.
Walt loved the outdoors and anything to do with the water. He was an avid fisherman, and he also enjoyed scuba diving and boating. In retirement he and Joan loved traveling in the RV, and spent winters in Florida fishing and playing Euchre with friends. Walt noticed the poor and needy, and was a generous man - he would give you the shirt off his back.
Walt was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Joan; his sisters Sarah, Marguerite, Dorothy, and Florence. He leaves one brother, Ned.
He is also survived by his daughters Lynda (Tom) Angerstien, and Susan Maloney; three grandchildren Tommy and Steve Angerstien and Katie Maloney; also three great-grandchildren, Austen, Blake, and Tommy.
Dad, you were always there when we needed you - Like your favorite song to Lynda and I - "Fathers don't just love their children every now and then...it's a love without end, Amen."
Now that you are gone, there is an emptiness in our world, but not in our hearts.
Cremation has taken place. No calling hours or service, per Walt's request. In lieu of flowers, take a buddy fishing. Dad would've liked that. To leave a special message with the family, please share a memory below.
