Walter Wilson Van Orman Jr. (Bud) 79 passed away peacefully on March 23, 2021 at Kent Ridge.
Bud was born on September 20, 1941 in Canton, Ohio to Walter Van Orman and Ruth (Davis) Van Orman. He graduated from Kent State University and worked for 30 years as the director of maintenance and transportation for Plain Local Schools. On any given day Bud could be found fishing, working on cars with friends and family or watching auto racing. He enjoyed a good prank and had a great sense of humor. He adored his grandchildren and couldn't wait for the next opportunity to spend time with them. After his retirement Bud dedicated time to helping young people get their lives on a better path.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joan (Lynch) Van Orman, and his brother-in-law, Walter Wilbarger.
Bud will be sadly missed by his daughter, Kimberly (Drew Costa) Van Orman of Georgia, son, Todd (Heather) Van Orman of Rootstown, grandchildren, Cori Van Orman and Max Van Orman of Rootstown, sister, Judy Wilbarger of Bowling Green, nephew, Chris Wilbarger, and nieces, Heidi Wilbarger, Beth Wilbarger and Becky Wilbarger, as well as by his many friends.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite local charity. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 1st from 4pm - 6pm with memorial service at 6pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron Ohio 44305. Due to Covid-19 concerns please expect to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.
