Wanda D. Lewis, 88, passed away August 25, 2009 after a short illness surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Barberton, Ohio, and lived in Akron for most of her life. Wanda retired from O'Neal's after 25 years of service. She was a member of Eagles #555 and The Eastern Star. Wanda is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, E.G. (Red) Lewis; sisters, Ethel Carbaugh, Grace Denman, Stella Whisler, Pearl White and Irene Donnenwrith; and granddaughter, Patricia Jones Bussey; and her great-granddaughter, Makenzie Carlton. She is survived by son, Gary (Barbara) Lewis; daughters, Karen Sims, Carol (Ben) Barker, and Judith Lewis; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held Friday, August 28, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating. Interment to follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
