Wanda E. (Nussbaumer) Stancin, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Wanda was born on May 3,1926 in Smithfield, Pennsylvania to John and Celia Nussbaumer. She was a proud and dedicated nurse, who loved caring for patients during her 40 year career. A devout Catholic, she was actively involved at St. Matthew's Parish for most of her life. Her family and friends will always remember her as a generous woman with a fun, ornery streak.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph George Stancin, parents, brother John Nussbaumer, Jr., and sisters Arlene Roderick and Freda Schaum.
A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Wanda is survived by her daughters, Jaki (David) Mills, Patti (Peter) Werle, Terry Stancin (Michael) Spetrino; grandchildren, Roxanne Witchey (Ron) Knafel, Stephanie McCort, Joseph McCort, Cody Mills, Rachel (Jacob) McCoy, Lillian Spetrino; great-grandchildren, Raven Witchey and Gage Mills; sisters, Loretta Darst and Elsie Kainrad; and many special nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home,131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305. Prayers will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church, 2580 Berne St., Akron, OH 44312.
