Wanda W. Brewer "Nanny Wanda"

Wanda W. Brewer, 83, of Akron, left to be one of God's angels on April 6, 2008. She was born in Barberton, Ohio on September 15, 1924, the daughter of the late William P. and Louise (Porter) Wells. She was raised in Canton, Ohio and graduated from McKinley High School. She attended Canton Actual Business College. Nanny Wanda was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls. She loved to play cards, was an avid reader, worked numerous crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and enjoyed doing needlework. When she was able, she enjoyed volunteering at the Cuyahoga Falls Library. She retired from Goodyear International Corporation, where she worked as a secretary with 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger; one sister and two brothers. She is survived by daughter, Sara (Tom) Shaheen; and two very special grandchildren, Thomas (T.J.) and Laura Shaheen; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Thursday at 12 p.m. with visitation from 11-12, Rev. Marvin Brown officiating. Interment at Standing Rock Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made in Wanda's name to the Gift and Memorial Fund at the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls.
