Waneta M. Mitchell, 72, of Edinburg, passed away December 26, 2009. She was born October 27, 1937 in Tallmadge to the late Paul and Esther Hawkins. Waneta was a dedicated employee of the Southeast School System, having worked as a janitor and a bus driver. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and a great friend to many people. Most of all, Waneta was known for her love of animals. Waneta was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret and Eileen. Waneta will be deeply missed by her children, Debbie (Ed) Lavalle, Greg Mitchell, Gary Mitchell, Diane (Russell) Gaines, and Angel (Periasamy) Chellamuthu; brothers, Paul (Norma) Hawkins and Charles (Diana) Hawkins; grandchildren, Ashley Stout, Jennifer Stout, Lukas Gaines, Jaclyn Gaines, and Arianna Mitchell. If desired, donations may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
