Wayne A. Vernon, age 69, of Kent, Ohio, died on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
He was born in Akron on October 28, 1950, the son of the late Robert and Evalee (nee Jones) Vernon.
Wayne obtained his Bachelor's degree from Akron University and his Master's from KSU. He taught the DECA Program for many years in Wellsville and Maplewood, Ohio. He was in sales for several different department stores. In his later years, he worked for H & R Block and the Record Courier in Ravenna.
Wayne loved to golf and travel.
Survivors include his wife, the former Karen Leonard, whom he married on May 12, 1984; his children, Patricia Vernon of Barberton and Robert Vernon of Ravenna. His sister also survives, Diane Fraser of Uniontown; his niece, Kristine (Tony) Bisesi and his nephew, Ronald (Jennifer) Fraser, and their families. His wife's family, Pat Cornish and Susie (David) Mahoney, and Pat's children, Jeremy (Lisa) Yano, Jaimee Yano, Whitney Cornish, Kacee Cornish and all of their families.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Keith Fraser and his nephew, David Fraser.
There will not be any services or visitation and arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron.
