Wendell Fred Standridge

Wendell "Fred" Standridge, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2025. He was born in Akron on December 25, 1940, to the late Wendell Sr. and Madeline Standridge. Fred was a graduate of Kenmore High School. He went on to serve in the Navy and given an honorable discharge. Fred was a Master Welder for Babcock and Wilcox for 33 years.

Fred enjoyed photography and photographed weddings and events. He also enjoyed fishing. Fred had a passion for music. He played the drums in his youth and never lost his passion for it. Fred was also a d.j. for the Slovene Party Center.

Fred was also a member of the Masonic Lodge (53 years), Scottish Rite, and Shriners.

Fred is survived by his daughter Tracy Shepherd, daughter Becky Lee Marple-Drake; grandson Christopher Standridge; sister Mary Alice; brother-in-law Jon Swires; and a host of extended family.

Fred was preceded in death by his father Wendell F. Standridge Sr., mother Madeline Mason, step-father Corla Mason, daughter Deborah Lee, and sisters Sandra and Wendie.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home.

Per his wishes, cremation will take place after the services.
