Wilbert D. Pierce (Webb)
Wilbert D. Pierce passed away December 4, 2009 due to complex illness. He was born March 9, 1927 to Bethel and Arley Pierce. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, son, Wilbert Dale Pierce, Jr and daughter Joanne Hajjar. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Margaret Vanderhoff, whom he married April 5, 1969. He is also survived by daughters, Charlotte Lybrook (Rich), Beverly McMahon, Diane Rogers, Betty Butz, Linda Royer (Clay) and sons Dale Pierce, Ronnie Pierce, Eric Pierce and Jim Vanderhoff, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Webb founded Fleet Maintenance Service in 1976 and maintained participation right until his last days. Fleet will remain in the family, currently owned and operated by son, Jim. Webb was known by many as the most intelligent man in their world. There was nothing he didn't know something about. As the patriarch of his family, he taught his sons, by example, to be men and his daughters to be independent. He will be missed greatly. Calling hours will be held Monday, December 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 8, at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Rick Fuson will officiate. Private interment to take place at Hillside Memorial Park.
