Wilfred A. Phares, 88, of Akron, passed away July 3, 2007. Red was born January 27, 1919 in Akron. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He had a lifelong interest in electronics and computers and was capable of fixing anything. Red was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; son, Larry; and brother, Harold. Red will be deeply missed by his daughter, Laura Glidden; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Larry Smith; several nieces; and very good friend, George Payne. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Don Booth officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. with military honors provided by Mogadore VFW 8487. Any donations may be made to Hospice of Summa.
