William Carl Fry
Carl Fry, 83, passed away on June 26, 2010. He was born in Barberton on December 16, 1926 to the late William and Gusta Fry. Carl served with the US Navy during WWII. Along with Joe Jesensky, he co-founded the Cuyahoga Valley Archaeological Society in 1981. Carl was also a member of the Akron Mineral Society, the Summit Lapidary Club, and the Summit County Historical Society. He had taught Flint Knapping at the University of Akron and Kent State University. Carl enjoyed lapidary, mineral collecting, woodworking, camping, and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Priscilla, of 65 years; son, Bill Fry; grandchildren, Kelly (Mike) Brown, Jill (Mike) Dorner, and Hope Fry; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Carol) and Jim (Charlene); sister, Eula (John) King; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to the St. Joseph Nursing Home Memory Unit for their care of Carl. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N.
