William R Dexter

William "Bill" R. Dexter, 73, passed away on May 9, 2022. He was born on July 17, 1948 the son of the late James & Era Dexter. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Bill retired from the Chrysler Company after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed working on puzzles and traveling with family. He was known fondly as "Billy D" from his bowling and golf buddies. He looked forward to the 4th of July to watch fireworks. Bill had a twinkle in his eye, a great sense of humor, and love in his heart, he will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Evelyn Tipton; brother Ron Dexter; and beloved niece Kathy .
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sharon Dexter; son William J. (Debbie) Dexter; daughters Cheryl (Byron) Schoonover and Melissa (Don) Dexter Hughes; grandchildren Micheal, Mitchel, Alex, Alicia, Brandon, Melanie, Gabriel, Ben, Brandon S., and Jacob; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday (May 19) from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Smith officiating.
