Bill Powell, 61, of Ellet, passed away November 27, 2001 after enduring many health problems. He fought a hard, courageous battle. Bill grew up as a young man in East Akron and retired from ANR Trucking. He was proud to be a member of Teamsters Local 24. Bill had the gift of gab and had many friends and loved ones who heard many of his tales. He cherished his family the most and was always ready to lend a helping hand or provide a shoulder to lean on. He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Joyce Powell; mother Edna; brothers John and Dick; sister Thelma Grof; in-laws Bill & Martha Reagan. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Frances, who will miss and love him forever; daughter, Denise Helmick, who was the light of his life, along with her husband Yogi, who was a good friend to him; grandchildren Jason Powell, Kassandra and Toni Helmick, all who made his life complete; brother Tom (Betty) Buchanan; sister Dorothy (Larry) Cain; many brothers-in law and sisters-in law whom he loved dearly; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Friends may call Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Baldridge officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
